Physiological Ion and Fluid Transport: Modeling and Computation

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in understanding the mechanisms of water transportation in the brain and the central nervous system (CNS) due to its potential implications for neurodegenerative diseases. In this talk, we present asymptotic and computational analyses of several models for ion and fluid transport in the optic nerve and other physiologically relevant settings.This collaborative work involves contributions from Shixin Xu, Zilong Song, Xuelian Bao, Shanfeng Xiao, Y. Zhu, and Bob Eisenberg.

黄华雄教授获得复旦大学数学学士学位，加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚大学应用数学研究所博士学位，曾任加拿大国立Fields数学研究所常务副所长、YORK大学数学系教授，加拿大自然科学基金会应用数学部门主任委员，加拿大工业与应用数学学会理事，现担任昆山杜克大学数学教授、祖冲之中心联合主任。主要从事的研究方向为应用数学，包括科学计算，数学建模，生物及金融数学，在Nature Communications、JFM、JCP等国际期刊上已发表100余篇学术论文，剑桥出版社出版专著1部；获加拿大应用与工业数学学会Fields奖、美国Pacific Institute工业数学杰出成就奖等荣誉。
